Character Design & Rig- Skica
Pr. SKIT-za, Czech for Sketch, Cartoon, Skeleton.
Character Turnaround

Skica Turnaround done in Photoshop, 2021.
I made this character with the intent of creating a character rig. Setting up a 2d rig is something like creating a very detailed puppet, so I decided to lean into the puppetry aspect. Wood marionette carvers and traveling puppeteers are a big part of the Czech republic's culture and history. This is what inspired Skica's creation. She's dressed in traditional Czech folk clothing.
Character Bio
Skica is a slightly apathetic Czech Marionette who considers herself an artist, but is tired of people assuming she is a clown or jester. She rarely speaks up to correct anyone, however. As a marionette, her job isn't verbal- Otherwise, she'd be a ventriloquist dummy, which she very much is NOT. Not that she has anything against them- A few of her cousins are ventrilloquistees, and that's just fine. They don't make her uncomfortable at all. Skica fancies herself a traditional folk dancer, a (very professional, non-stage fright prone) performance of classic art.
Skica worries about many things, but most of all fears the day that someone might mistake her for a mime. (which she also has no problem with. Great people, really. just... not an accurate summation of her art.)

Animation- Blocking
Skica, tired after a performance, spots an overenthusiastic fan and is startled. Rig animation. Harmony, 2021.
Character Design- Silhouettes

Some character silhouettes I worked on to refine Skica's design. Originally, I had a jester/clownlike character in mind.
